This is an interactive installation, which allows you to alter your identity in a very playful way. Standing in front of a screen, you are looking at yourself like in a mirror. With the help of pink sticky notes you can grab various items on the screen and attach them to yourself like a dress-up-puppet.

PuppetWall by capture LED light

The Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT conducts world-class research on future information technology. They presented PuppetWall, a multi-user, multimodal system intended for digitally augmented puppeteering. This application allows natural interaction to control puppets and manipulate playgrounds comprised of background, props and puppets. PuppetWall utilizes hand movement tracking, a multi-touch display and emotion speech recognition input for interfacing.

Ps. HIIT is a joint research institution of Helsinki University of Technology TKK (the Aalto University School of Science and Technology) and the University of Helsinki.

Interactive Puppet Display using openFrameworks and Unity 3D

This interactive puppet display was developed by the team at and was created for the frederica theatre in denmark. For the premiere of the Avenue Q puppet show at Fredericia Teater they have created an interactive Kinect-based installation with which people can control Trekkie – a beastly looking character from the show.

The installation was built using openFrameworks and Unity 3D with the ofxOpenNI add-on. One cool feature aside from how great everything looks is that no calibration pose was required in order to start tracking a users skeleton.
